This is not a drill… our Food Pantry is expanding!

“We do a lot with very little space” has been the sentiment shared by volunteers and staff who have worked at the JFS Food Pantry the past 10 years. By “a lot,” we mean receiving large shipments of food weekly, processing donations from corporate and community food drives, shopping 180 families three days per week, hosting a large-scale mobile food pantry distribution monthly, providing comprehensive case management, and connecting clients to other government benefits... all within 1,500 square feet and across two floors with no operation interfering with another. Instead, we should be saying, “miracles happen here.”

The number of clients we serve has nearly doubled due to the challenges brought about by the pandemic. Each week, we regularly serve about 700 families in our drive-thru distribution model, and many of them will continue to come to us for healthy food, fresh produce, toiletries, and diapers long after the pandemic ends. While we pivoted to the drive-thru distribution for the safety of our clients, we look forward to returning to the client-choice shopping model this year.

We have been planning for several year how to strategically expand our Food Pantry and we are proud to see our plans come to fruition. We look forward to serving a growing number of clients in a safer, more confidential manner. Construction is already underway in our new and improved space, but we need your help in fundraising* for the finishing touches!
